Things People Are Doing on Leap Day 2008

"The first thing that came to my mind was skydiving. You know, actually take a leap on leap day. So I began researching the idea. Although, I didn't look too long or hard, I was surprised to find only one skydiving group had organized around the idea. Emerald Coast Skydiving Center in Elberta, Alabama is promoting their event with 'Leap into Leap Year!'"

"I’ve been meaning to spend more time with Hutterites – so for my extra day, I think I’ll look some up and see what they’re doing for brunch."

"We're going to welcome our daughter into the world.

She's due 2/27, but we're (not so) secretly hoping she'll be a leapling.

Whatever day she chooses to arrive will be a wonderful bonus day, of course, but we used our extra day (2/29) in 2004 to get married, so our geekiness makes the 29th particularly attractive for this year's highlight as well."

-Rod K.

"I am rarely selfish with my time and love to give myself and my time away so perhaps I will take this extra day and 'check out' if you will. I will reflect, bond with myself or maybe just stare into my sweethearts beautiful blue eyes so I will always remember him especially when he is away.

"I guess I do not care if I work or not, but like any day, I would want to do good. Or, maybe have someone to cook breakfast for me. So, in review, maybe a picture like this (above). I am a simple man.
-Matt M.

"I'm going to do something that frightens the daylights out of me.

I'm either going to perform Live Band Karaoke at Glueks (Mpls) or Salsa Dance at Dixie on Grand (St. Paul) both offered every Friday evening."
-Tracy I.

====

"I'm paying my rent a day later than I otherwise would have.

If that's not worth a holiday, I don't know what is."

"I asked my boss if we could have the day off, what with it being extra and all. While he didn't agree that we should get the day off, he was kind enough to offer a suggestion as to what to do with my extra day.

Apparently I'll be pissing up a rope."
-daver

====

"I'm taking a personal day. That day is not supposed to be there! How can I be expected to work under such conditions??"
